Ozzy Osbourne is currently working on two new studio albums. The first album was recorded in May with Mike Bordin (drums), Blasko (bass) and Zakk Wylde (guitar). The second album that Ozzy works on, is the soundtrack to his musical about Grigory Rasputin. The album will be released initially, and then the play will debut on Broadway or as a touring show according to Osbourne.

On the other hand, Ozzy Osbourne has been voted Britain's favourite figure of fun. The Reader's Digest survey says the former Black Sabbath frontman "appears to have transformed himself from a scary heavy metaller into everyone's favourite clown."

Powerman 5000 - Destroy What You Enjoy - (2006)

Powerman 5000 is the band that became famous as the little brother band of White Zombie. Not only because of the musical similarities but also because the singer Mike "Spider" Cummings is the brother of Rob Zombie and Mike Tempesta (he left the band) is the brother of John Tempesta.

From the firsts tunes of the album is clear that Powerman 5000 changed their style again. The band used to be an industrial, nu-metal band but in their latest album, "Destroy What You Enjoy" they mix punk elements. The reason is that punk is now famous in America....and as they sing in "Wild World", There's money to be made... Especialy, "Enemies" is Sex-Pistols-like song.

The voice of Spider is killer as always. Small fast songs with happy-punk melodies will get your attention for sure. Easy listening songs like "Who Do You Think You Are" and "All My Friends Are Ghost" that you will listen few times."Now that's Rock and Roll" is the only song musicaly close to their past and it is one of the best songs of the album..

Powerman 5000 is a band with energy in the vocals and power in the guitars. But since Tempesta left the band, the album lacks of this power. The band will not blow your speakers as they used to do in "Tonight The Stars Revolt"

But there's a hidden treasure in this album and its called "Murder". A fast song with an even faster refrain that will stay in your mind for a long time.

In the end "Destroy What You Enjoy" is not a bad album, but it's not a masterpiece also. It will stay in your stereo for a couple of weeks but I dont think that anyone will remember it after this period.

Joe Lynn Turner wants to form a SuperGroup

New group called Big Noise is formed with Joe Lynn Turner (Rainbow, Deep Purple, Yngwie Malmsteen) on vocals, guitarist Carlos Cavazo (Quiet Riot), bassist Phil Soussan (Ozzy Osbourne, Billy Idol), drummer Vinny Appice (Dio, Black Sabbath), and keyboardist Gary Corbett (Cinderella, Lou Gramm).

Their plans are to release and promote a live DVD with well-known songs from each artist.

Well...my opinion is that if they want to be called a supergroup, they have to write new songs and not live in the past.

Lunatica - The Edge Of Infinity (2006)

Since the day that Lunatica formed they worked hard to win the attention of the fans. Their first release, "Atlantis" gave the opportunity for many concerts and festivals. Their second album, "Fables and Dreams" gave to the Swiss band a place to charts.

Their latest album called "The Edge of Infinity" and they will try with this release to win the recognition they deserver.

The band plays a mix of Art Rock/ Progressive Metal. The main melodies come from the keyboards, not from the guitars as it was expected, and they are perfectly combined with the voice of Andrea.

Even from the intro the album wins the attention of the listener, while songs like "The Edge of Infinity" and "Sons of the Wind" give a nice art rock atmosphere. "Together" is a classic epic metal song, while in "Out" Andrea's voice will remind you bands like Evanescence. Finaly the classic love balads are present here also, with songs like "Power of Love", "Song For You".

In the end the filling that the album left me is that I heard a band that reminds me Blackmore's Night (cause of the vocals) although the result is much-much better. "The Edge of Infinity" climbed the charts already and it deserve it. The only drawback is that the album is not an easy listening. Some people will get tired of the long songs and their music style.

Dissection Frontman Shot Himself

Bad news for the fans of Death Metal scene. Swedish heavy metal musician Jon Nödtveidt, 31, was found dead on Wednesday, August 16 at his apartment in Hässelby, a suburb of Stockholm. He shot himself in the head and was surrounded by lit candles, Expressen reports. Shortly before the ritual suicide, he had sent farewell letters to his father and his girlfriend and explained to a friend, "I'm going away for a long, long time. I'm going to Transylvania."

Sometime between Monday (Aug. 14) and Wednesday, Nödveidt, vocalist and guitarist in the popular Swedish black metal band DISSECTION, chose to take his own life.

At 7:21 p.m. CET on Wednesday, a police patrol reported to the police communication center in Stockholm that a man had been found dead, the apparent victim of a self-inflicted gunshot wound. According to several of Expressen's sources, the singer had placed an open copy of "The Satanic Bible" in front of him before pulling the trigger.

"He shot himself in the head and lay dead in a ring of lit candles," says a police source.

At 5:44 p.m. on Wednesday, the police received a 911 call from Jon Nödtveidt's family who hadn't been able to establish contact with him for a couple of days.

The suicide is believed to have been planned for a long time.

"At the scene there was also a will and a suicide note," a police source tells Expressen.

In December 1997, Jon Nödveidt was arrested for the murder of Josef Ben Meddaour and served seven years for accessory to murder and possession of an illegal firearm. The highly publicized murder in Gothenburg is depicted in the movie "Keillers Park". What has come to be known as "the Satanic murder" in Sweden has led to both a movie and a book.

In 1997, at the time of the murder, Jon Nödtveidt explained that he lived in a world where Satan was God and that they drank blood and sacrificed animals. On DISSECTION's web site he revealed that he was a member of MLOMisanthropic Luciferian Order.

Suppose that Curt Cobain's black widow hadn't decided to move to Malibu after the 'accident', but instead she chose the vast Texas deserts. Suppose that Dolly Parton was around 35 and she had a poster of Sheryl Crow somewhere in her bedroom...

Country-pop sounds, songs that balance between the sandy morning fog backgrounded by an American midwest highway and those flashing big city lights, ultimately underachieving at both...Taking a break from the pure music part of this album, we have to note that the Dixies were one of the few American bands that spoke against G.Bush and his Iraq war,as well as the last song ( I hope) is dedicated to the hurricane Katrina victims of New Orleans .Unfortunately, these kind (??!) intentions are not enough, since the result is simply below par. I guess that a country music fan will be disappointed with this album, while a rookie country listener will not get intrigued to step any further.

Folkearth is project of 31 musician from 8 differnet countries !!! They use, apart from guitars and drums, harps, violins, violas, tin whistle (!?) and flutes. As their name imply the play folk/power metal with some black elements.

"By the Sword of My Father" is their second album and i have to say that is much better and mature than their debut. 16 songs will travel you in a different era for 72 mins.

The songs are full of different ideas with correct structure and given in way that doesn't exhaust the listener. The album is so good that i can't distinguish betweem the first 8 songs! Especialy the "Instrumental" will travel you to a pagan festival and "Nagflar Sets Sail" will make you search for your sword!!!

The only think that I noticed is that the last songs are not equaly good. But still the album is a decent release that I enjoy the last weeks!!! Surely a project that needs the support of fans.

Rage - Speak Of The Dead - 2006

By Elric on 10:52 AM 04 August 2006

Rage was one of the first groups that played power/speed metal 20 years ago. Today, after several line-up changes but always with Peavey on vocals and bass their sound remain unchanged. Although they tried some experimental albums with the Lingua Mortis orcherstra in "Ghost" and "Lingua Mortis", albums like "Black In Mind" are the ones that fans prefer. Their last studio release, "Soundchaser", it is believed that is their best effort.

So, with "Speak Of The Dead" the bad had the extra burden, at least, to match "Soundchaser". The question is, did they succed ?

The album consists of two parts. In the first part, Rage once agian team up with Lingua Mortis. The first part constitutes of 8 songs, 5 of them are instrumentals. After the small intro, I was believed that I will hear the classic Rage metal, although what "Prelude to Souls" and "Innocent" remind me of, was Savatage! Although when Peavy starts to sing, the music turns indeed to classic Rage. In general the first part is something like a mix of Savatage and Rage. The idea sounds good, but the result is not the best. The orchestrical parts, although they are good at the beginning, they are too many and they end-up boring!

The album is getting interest in the second part where Rage play their classic power/speed metal. "Turn My World Around" is probably the best song of the album along side "Full Moon", while "Kill Your Gods" is faster and is also good! "No Fear", "Soul Survivor" and "Speak Of The Dead" are like the songs that Peavey writing his whole life. In general the second part is pretty good but the album leaves you with a feeling of incompleteness

I can't say that Rage were able to match "Soundchaser"but in the end "Speak of the Dead" is a pretty good album that it will play on your cd-player for a while.
